Megan Russell, Springman

  • Big thank you to PTA for winter luncheon which was very much appreciated by staff
  • MAP testing this week; they are doing incentives like passing out candy and doing a “Smash the test” friendly game using paw tickets. Selected students get to smash a pie in the face of 4 staff members, including Megan, on Friday.
  • Student council is doing a coat drive through Friday.
  • Panorama surveys coming up soon.
  • Students will also be asked to identify 1-2 staff people who they would feel comfortable going to if they have an issue.
  • Graduation plans are starting up for 8th graders as well as beginning the transition to high school (picking classes, etc.).

Diana O’Donnell, Attea

  • Many of the things going on at Springman are also taking place at Attea. The continuation of the goal setting process was highlighted as well.
  • Staff is also working with a student group to work on DE&I at Attea.
  • Winter Bash is taking place at the end of January. It’s a fun event for all grades at Attea and there will be food, games, and a DJ. It takes place right after school and buses will be provided for those who need a ride home.
  1. Service Projects- Melissa Dahlquist/Karen Klein
  • Birthday Bag packing event- set for Thursday January 26th right after school at each school. Signup geniuses were sent out to get volunteers for each school. Still looking for helpers at both schools, especially Attea. An Amazon wish list was also sent out asking for help in providing supplies for the birthday bags. The goal is to prep 100 bags per school, but it will just depend on how many supplies are received. The art clubs at each school have been working on decorating bags and creating posters to advertise this fun event. Bags will be donated to the Northfield Food Pantry.
  • Thrift Up event- date and location TBD. Ideally in April at Attea. The idea behind this is that in the 2 weeks leading up to the event, people will bring in gently used items to donate. At the event, students and families are invited to come and “shop” for items to bring home free of charge. Further details to be provided about what categories of items will be accepted. Volunteers will be needed for assistance as well.
